Once you become essential, they can’t shitcan you. Essential = nobody else understands the case and your bizarre organization of its documents.
I loved it when partners would tell me how its great I’m working so closely with the client. That ensured they weren’t, which ensured job security.
Nothing freaks a client like a "Just thought I'd let you know I'm leaving" call.
