Boy, if it's going to be a good harvest, I need those boys in the field strong, and that's why I give them the extra hominy. I've got to make some guess, otherwise I'd just be feeding them three square of corn all the time.
But you're right, the extra shirts are pure discretionary spending. No shirts until the cotton is in. Tell the Yankees to lay off some workers.
