The Yankees had a 15 year run when we weren't really winning much of anything. I still had a great time cheering for them and I didn't sit around wondering if their record would be good enough for me to cheer for them starting the last month of the season.

I'm not comparing the Yankees to Detroit or Chicago, knucklehead. I'm wondering why you can't be a fan of your local team even if they aren't going to the playoffs. Besides, I don't want to hear people whining about the Tigers or the Cubs because those fans got to experience the Pistons and the Bulls. If you can only cheer for the team in your city that is currently winning, you're not really worth much as a sports fan.

*Purely conjecture. What is your NFL team?
