I was thinking about reading him Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but he's not all that tuned into candy and I'm worried about calling it to his attention and glorifying it. Probably this is silly.
Am now reading him a book called The Tale Of Despereaux. Recommended. Despereaux is a mouse who has parents, but they stand uselessly by when the head mice send him to the dungeon for talking to humans.

Fantastic Mr. Fox is excellent. I read it to Sidd Jr. a few months ago -- we still have the copy I had when I was a kid. What's creepy? The farmers are trying to kill the fox, Elmer Fudd tries to kill the Wabbit. It's the circle of life.
