Help their cause before November or after? Right now, I think they're completely focused on trying to win the House. They think the GOP is unpopular, and they'd rather make the election a referendum on the GOP's record than on their proposals.
I disagree with this strategy because I don't think it takes too much of a short-term perspective. I think they need to talk more about what they'd do, because that's what gives them the political capital to do it later, whether or not voters picked them for that reason -- and I don't think their agenda will matter much to voters this fall.

Losing the House and Senate by slim margins only makes them more viable in 2008 for the White House, because then, the Dems can make the GOP even weaker, while the GOP still has to shoulder all the blame.
If Dems take House, two things will happen. 1) Pelosi, Conyers, et al will ultimately stick their foot in their mouths (they cant help themselves) and will rally the GOP base; 2) Rove starts blaming the House for prevent the GOP from getting anything done.
