Cite please? Rove sent an email saying he talked to Cooper about welfare reform. Cooper said he doesn't recall talking about welfare reform. Cooper sent an email to someone else at time re Plame.
But either way, why did Rove respond at all with the info? It's not like Rove has to talk to reporters. He was saying it for political advantage.
ETA: What I don't get is why you're trying to make this out like an "oops". It clearly wasn't. It might be an oops to the extent he unknowingly disclosed the name of a covert agent, but not because he acted unknowingly, but because he didn't know that fact. There's no way to spin it as an oops when he told several reporters within the course of a few days and Libby was doing the same, and they were both spinning it as a reason to undermine Wilson's story.
As I said, if your view is simply that nothing that doesn't break the law is immoral or wrong, that's fine. But say it and be straight.
