no more AA for AA

so they got an "eliminate affirmative action" proposal on our ballot. I saw a commercial to stop the proposal that didn't say "affirmative action" once. Of course saying it would be informing the yokels, so I get the quiet approach- but here's the question- the commercial says things like "in another state where a similar inititive was passed, Courts have found funding for women's medical care (I forget which care but some stuff only women have) illegal."

I take it to mean that the text of the law was so broad as to not allow any difference for any distinction between people.

Did that happen in California? any other States have a similar measure?
