Job Description Pending Senate confirmation to the District Court bench, Judge Crone is now accepting applications for Law Clerk positions beginning Fall 2003 in the Eastern District of Texas-Beaumont Division. Clerks assist Judge Crone in researching and drafting memoranda and orders involving a variety of civil and criminal matters, including civil rights, business litigation, personal injury, intellectual property, bankruptcy appeals, social security, and habeas corpus cases. Additionally, clerks help the judge prepare for trials and assist the judge in researching evidentiary issues and objections on a variety of issues, including the suppression of evidence, application of the sentencing guidelines, admissibility of testimony and exhibits, and questions and instructions for inclusion in the jury charge. Students with strong analytical, research, and writing skills, as well as an ability to handle a variety of assignments in a timely manner, are encouraged to apply, with students ranking in the top 20 % of their class preferred.
