As a general proposition, if it emboldens five or ten other people to do the same thing it taxes the IRS' resources, which keeps it from enforcing tax law on smaller alleged cheats or people who have taken aggressive positions which may or may not be legal. The more the agency is compromised with excess work the more people pulling little stunts become more and more emboldened to continue and as that happens what is a $290 billion hole increases incrementally year to year and keeps getting worse. Even the fed govt has to observe some sort of relationship between revenues and spending, so maybe, just maybe, these silly revolts cause us to be robbed of a little pork we'd optherwise have (the billions lost being not that substantial a sum).
And I don't mind paying extra. It's not huge money at the end of the day.
