Is it for the same reason that McCain can solicit the endorsement of an anti-Catholic fundamentalist bigot, and share a stage with him, without a problem (so long as he later says "well, we disagree on some things"), while Obama has to "denounce and reject" the unsought endorsement of Louis Farrakhan?

I actually had a conversation with co-counsel today in which the person said she was concerned about Obama's "association with" Farrakhan. And I am supposed to trust this person's judgment on legal questions?
