And, as to flying her in, while you would think all cats are gray in the dark, sometimes one does actually have preferences w/r/t sex partners, or has even developed somewhat of a relationship with a casual sex parter. Even the paid ones. For example, I have always preferred fucking "preferred provider" to fucking "young guy," even though on some superficial levels they are quite similar, and their method of delivery (house call, positions, total time spent) is comparable. Preferred provider has a personality more compatible with mine. I find him funny.

Loss leader isn't the right term--vaporware, or something perhaps? Whatever products that no one buys and so aren't produced by companies--the really low-end product that's there so that people think they're not ordering the cheapest thing on the menu and are "ordering up" when in fact they never sell the lowest-priced product.
As for cats in the dark, perhaps, but then why is Spitzer saying "Kristen . . . remind me what she looks like"? Unless he had a harem that he picked from (or didn't use their stage names), if he had a regular girl you'd think he'd remember a bit more about her.
