You can't choose family/ you can choose friends- which is a minster closer to? or is it okay to have racist friends*? I don't think it is. AND before today I would have thought almost everyone on this board would have agreed. So I don't get the distinction.
*allowing for the argument that a black minister cannot be racist, but that wasn't BO's argument.

I think wonk is trying to point out that Obama is a politician, giving a political speech, arguing that we all have to live together in a larger sense.
