get rid of the cat and get a dog. I am sure the odds are you guys will raise a grounded young woman who will turn out fine, even if you keep the cat. Still, raising a girl with a cat instead of a dog you create the chance, even if 100 to 1, that she'll end up one these cat girls with 3 or 4 cats in her apartment. it's not worth the risk.
