In all seriousness, get the cat checked. Also think about the cat dung/small child issue. Cat feces can carry all sorts of things, including toxoplasmosis, which I managed to contract when I were but a lad. It led to retinal scarring, which (as I was informed many years later by an eye doctor as I quietly shat myself), had it been in a different location, could have blinded me in both eyes. Admittedly this is very rare and you have probably already thought of this, but still.
