Anyone remember the substitute teacher in Connecticut who faced 40 years in prison because she had displayed porn on her classroom computer, endangering her middle school students? And she claimed that the computer just started displaying the porn because it was overtaken by spyware? And remember how the jury convicted her? And that a number of spyware experts said (after the trial) that her story was actually pretty plausible, since the school district had not protected the computer from spyware that would have behaved exactly as she had claimed? And then the trial court judge took five months to overturn the verdicts, which meant she spent five months thinking she could go to prison for 40 years?
Yeah, well,
the prosecutor just accepted a plea that involved a dismissal of all of the felony charges. She's pled to misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge. She'll pay a $100 fine and will surrender her credential.
This is totally fucking sickening. If I ever meet that DA I'd spit in his face for failing to admit that all charges should have been dropped outright. He ruined an innocent woman's life, destroyed her career, and then offered a plea deal to save face. A total disgrace to the school district and to the DA.
