I loved Banana Republic in the 80s. Most of my lightweight spring/summer clothes came from there until the Gap rebranded it in the early 90s. That was a store that fully understood how to attire someone living in tropical or sub-tropical climates. Lightweight shirts, skirts, shorts and pants that didn't add to heat and humidity were perfect for people living in Houston, Texas.
Plus, I liked the stories (and J. Peterman's too, for that matter). I still have a leather bomber jacket from there that I bought in 1990ish or so.
