With respect to my own religion, I try to teach my children that gender is irrelevant to God, and that to the extent we can claim to know anything about God, we should assume that God is male, female, both and neither.

No, I didn't attempt describe my personal beliefs, but rather was focused on different aspects of the holiday itself.
I don't believe God has a gender, nor a form for that matter.
