am i paranoid or are they trying to stop soemthing that other patrons find objectionable? if so, isn't that rude to me? I recognize that my behavior is not examplary but wonder who Ms. Manners would find most out of proper norms of restaurant manners.

I'm sure it's also off-putting to be seeing armed school personnel around middle schools on your route, but just like the busboys, those folks are there for a reason. Non-exemplary habits, even if legal, can correlate highly with some disturbing results.
