I saw him waiting for an elevator once and I knew he was going up 2 stories. I go "Andy, WTF? why wouldn't you walk up?" he told me that stairs are too intense and too short term so as to be more dangerous that helpful.

It varies widely. I can walk for miles at a decent enough clip to get my heart rate over 125 (which for me is good) but I can't walk up the stairs from the basement without getting completely winded and having to sit down. I also can't run a block without having severe chest pain. On the other hand, I know people with cardiac problems who could keep up with Flower in a spin class, but can't walk to the park.
