I discussed this with a guy who only buys Versace shirts actually made in Italy (apparently some are not) and he really couldn't understand how you could compare some seamstress in a back room to the greatness that is Versace. While his comments dripped with the insecurity of anyone that is so wed to a single brand, the only point I could grasp from his ranting was that it had to do with setting the trends, as opposed to following the trends.
He also wore non-matching colorful socks. I keep waiting for that trend so that I can follow it.
Final note, he is the only person I know who polishes the bottoms of his shoes. Seemed dangerous to me, but man they looked nice.
