But she still wanted to spend time with me and wanted to know how I felt about her thoughts.
FAB, this woman's lost all perspective. If you're an artist or a writer or a physicist or extreme athlete or Supreme Court justice, 'passion' makes sense. But a simple good-schools-prestigious-firm lawyer? Is she insane? Why would anyone get "passionate" about some contract that no-one's going to give a shit about after the statute of limitations for suing over it has passed? Even some constitutional stuff can be fairly routine and be on and off one's desk pretty quickly. If she means that she wants you to throw it all away and become a penniless nomad seeking your true calling, that's one thing. If she wants you to dream joyously of trusts-and-estates, or would sincerely think a guy who honestly lives for the soul-satisfying thrill of transactional work is someone she could even stand being in the same room with for more than five minutes, she's an idiot.

Find someone who still likes you when the conference call's over, and count yourself better off.
