 I am quite happy with mine.  It's hard to know how much the network is a problem because it's not like you can try it out on other networks.  Voice really hasn't been an issue for me in DC.  The data is hinky at times, but hard to tell whether it's a coverage or capacity issue.
If you want to use it for internet use it blows blackberries out of the water.  They aren't even in the same ocean, in fact.  Email is a much closer proposition, although I prefer iPhone I can understand the desire for a physical keyboard.  Strokes/folks.  I have it integrated with a Mac, so can't comment on how it works with PCs (which is important mainly for syncing things, although I use gmail and gcal so don't really use the sync feature for those anyway).
