Here's a good poll, what is the stupidest thing you have seen or heard someone say to a judge?
I was running a conference call, and on it were a variety of lawyers and a judge. We were chatting while waiting for the last attorney to join us.
The guy finally comes on the line, and we started the discussion.
We get to the part that involves when the Judge will participate. She's been quiet the whole time since the last attorney got on the line, he has no idea she's there. And he really hates this judge.
The guy says, oh so Judge SoandSo just waltzes in any old time she wants like usual right?
Dead silence.
And then I said, um, well, actualy Judge Soandso will be arriving at whenver it was. Isn't that right Judge?
Right, she said.
So she leaves the call a bit later, Attorney freaks out, why didn't you tell me she was on the call? My response, well, you put your foot in your mouth so damned fast I didn't have a chance to block it. Years later we still tease him about it. I asked him if he lost his next couple of cases before her.
