Forgive me, TM, if I don't expalin this as well as you might.
A whiff is when you post a response to someone's joke by merely restating the general point of their post without adding something funnier or more interesting.
So, if I posted saying "Paigow is missing all of this", jokingly alluding to her love of the ignore list function, and you responded
"well, she does have us all on ignore", that would be a whiff.
