Doesn't this then confirm that there's a rivalry? I thought that was the Yankees' thing: showing indifference in the face of Boston's "rivalry" statements, which is much more insulting than admitting to and enjoying the rivalry. Saying "we're not really rivals - we ALWAYS win - you're just another faceless team that hates us" is much more insulting.

Of course there's a rivalry. It's just a one-sided rivalry. Sox fans hate us. We beat the shit out of you. It works out well. We don't want to change the dynamic of the rivalry. Your team doesn't seem to want to either.
