Actually, I find that article odd. I don't see going to Hallowween costume parties as a "Peter Pan/Find the Child Within" sort of thing. I've always considered masques to be a rather sophisticated form of adult entertainment, really - so I think the resurgence of adult costumes at Halloween isn't about acting like children but rediscovering adult diversions and using the existing holiday as an excuse. (I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Carnival is increasing in popularity among adults where it is celebrated, too.) The whole "ooh, look, we're so young at heart" schtick is such a boomer thing, and the media persists in thinking old boomer attitudes bleed down onto the rest of us, but I don't think it's really accurate with respect to the under-35-40 crowd.
