Thurgreed would insist that posters' socks had just as much value concealed as exposed, and therefore it didn't matter if they accepted the bribes and pressures of the community of GAs at large and fully disclosed them or not, since they would benefit either way. Therefore, we can safely assume that the socks exist, even though we can't see them. Sebby would retort "anyone who thinks that is stupid, any reasonable person with socks would just let their socks hang out there for everyone to see. The argument that people really run around concealing their socks so desperately is silly." Thurgreed would seek to retaliate by implying that Sebby could only make such assertions because of Sebby's wife, and would attempt to make Sebby's wife's socks public in an attempt to undermine Sebby's credibility. Of course, the GA public would be all over this, and everyone would seek to learn all they could about Sebby's wife's socks and otherwise verify them, so (they would piously argue) they could evaluate the seriousness of Thurgreed's having made them public.
