First, you know this, but of course don't need to explain why you posted as anon.
Second, sorry for the silence following your post. Just like IRL. People don't know what to do or say when somebody reveals something really significant, and so the person's revelation just sits out there, unacknowledged.*
So I'll acknowledge it, since I can't do so by PM: I'm sorry that that happened to you and I'm glad you survived, in more than just the physical sense.

This usually happens when I note that my mother died (years ago, but it still hurts like hell). When I posted that here, however, Thurgreed made a joke. I admired that, because one's dead mother is generally such a not-to-be-joked-about thing. If I had Thurgreed's cajones (or even neuticles), I would have written above, "unacknowledged, like a fart in your boss's office." But I'm a wuss, so I have to put it in small type.
