Everybody (particularly in the US) wants a narrative. Comfort, etc. Some take it in science, some in religion. Personally, I'm fine with ignorance on this. Why drive yourself nuts. Seems, to me at least, time better spent masturbating.

The issue to me is that the creator is irrelevant. Perhaps there is one. As you say, we will probably never know.
BUT, the vastness of the universe and the time scales we are talking about does not make the process in any way unlikely. (And that's without getting into multiverse theories) We're talking about minuscule probabilities, but nearly infinite iterations.
