I loved the Chronicles of Narnia as a kid, as an adult they've lost some of their magic, but I still like them.
Little House on the Prairie series. I read them over and over and over again.
The Secret Garden
Mandy and The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles both by Julie Andrews.
The Mixed up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankenweiler
The Bobbsey Twins books

The Phantom Tollbooth - I didn't read this one until after I graduated from college. I still read it.

Never heard of the Narnia books. Years ago one of the NY stores based their Christmas windows on the series. Friends and I were wandering past them on our way to the tree lighting and they were oohing and ahing and I'm wondering why a lion is in a wardrobe with a witch. I had no idea that they were about. Still haven't read them.
