Mango: [ferragamo isn't that flashy for Southern Italy]
Well, I don't know about that. Guys shoes aren't that trendy. Gender adjusted, I'd say ferragamo is on the trendier side. Even though Ferragamo isn't as trendy as Bally or Prada, it had switched to more squarish toes to follow the trends (bruno magli did the same). Less trendy would be Santoni (or not Italian, but, Churches), which never really switched to squarish toes. Ferragamo's flashiness really shoes in the designs of its belt buckles though. The shapes are out there compared to other designers.Back to top

Why, Coup, what an excellent memory you have.
It took exactly as much whipped cream as had been piped onto the chocolate mousse I smuggled home for the OM.
It was not worth ruining my favorite little black dress.Back to top

To be less uncouth (although I seriously question why one would want to be *less* uncouth on the FB), the replacement for the little black dress is...an even littler (is that word?) black dress.
Seriously though, the focus should not be the clothes put on your body, but rather the body on which you put the clothes. Isn't that the point of dressing sexy? To have people (in most cases the opposite sex) notice how much cleavage or leg you reveal? If you don't have the cleavage (some praise to the inventor of the Miracle Bra, although I do consider it to be false advertising), or cottage cheese thighs, get thee to the plastic surgeon and/or the gym. That way, you'll look good no matter what you're wearing, with the goal, of course, to ultimately not be wearing anything at all. Back to top

Any comments on the new Men's Fashion in Sunday's NYT?
I saw some beautiful ads, and I loved the parkour story about the French acrobatic urban climbers featured in the Nike ads last year.
As for the clothes, are y'all really going to be wearing the tunics your SOs wore last summer?Back to top

I don't think it will stay that way permanently.
Here's why we choose newest posts at the top:
1. It "feels" more like the old boards, i.e. when you clicked on "messages" you got a message index with the newest posts at the top of the page. The same thing happens here (except for that brief moment after you actually post, when it, for some reason, reverts back to newest at the bottom), but rather than a message index, you get a page with 30 (?) posts.
2. This allows you to bookmark a forum/topic. If you bookmark this topic, whenever you come back to it from your favorites, the newest posts will be on the page (assuming there hasn't been more than a full page of posts, in which case you'll have to go back a page to view the other new posts, just like at the old place). If we had newest posts on the bottom, bookmarking a topic would be silly, since you would end up having to click on the last page of posts in that topic, anyway, which always changes as more pages of posts are added.
So, I think you'll come to like the newest posts at the top thing. Just give it a chance. Back to top

It won't feel like the old boards for me until we see our first posting of MR original artwork.

It's not going to "feel" like the old site because there is no index of posts with each post that you've already read highlighted. So, reading from top down is easier and more intuitive. My vote is for newest posts at the bottom (or at least the ability for us to make it permanent for just ourselves), if that is possible.
And if you bookmark, it will take you to the newest page of posts whether they are on the top or bottom, am I right?

Thing is, there is a little issue when old posts roll onto a new page and you click page 2 to see the old posts. Rather than having newest first on the previous pages, it does newest last. makes it a bit confusing.
In other words, I'm thinking of deleting the little snippet of code I included to get the newest first default. Until I can figure out how to make it so that the newest post is always first on every page, no matter how you go there, I'll probably let the board default to the way it normally is (newest posts last).

I have been looking for a dinner club for a little while in my burg and just heard about one this weekend. It's called Table for Eight. They arrange dinner for 4 women and 4 men who've been screened for compatible interests.
I'm curious to know if anyone has an experiences with something comparable and whether they're worthwhile, as compared to speed dating and the old online personal crap.
Thanks to everyone who made these boards possible. They look great and your hard work is appreciated! (Still getting used to all the bells and whistles!)Back to top

OK, we decided to nix the "newest posts first" code. It was too confusing, since it didn't always stay that way (i.e. after you make a post and when you tried to view old posts that had been pushed to another page).

I much prefer seeing new posts first rather than the old posts. I feel like I have to scroll through things I"ve already read when I come to the page and the oldest post is on top. I thought I had changed my preferences, but I still am getting the oldest post first. Is there something I should be doing to change this?Back to top

Why don't you just leave it so that the newest is the last post on every page?
Although, it looks like on our personal page, we can set it up the way we like. Will your decision override our personal set up?
