I don't think so, TM. I won't make any changes without getting the approval of the masses on this. We may end up putting it up for a vote.

Spooky, it's really hard. Click the "quote" box above the post you want to quote.

Instead of hitting "reply" - hit the little blue "quote" button to the top-left of the post. It sets up a reply with the quoted text already set up for you.

I know that probably sounded like a stupid-ass question, but I've tried that and hadn't been able to get it to work for some reason.

Actually, the only people I REALLY hate right now are December RotAF, LadyVal, NYDoll, my husband, my mother, my mother-in-law, the partner who keeps reminding me of the work I need to do for him before my maternity leave begins, and the guy at the guard gate of my community who wouldn't let my furniture restorer in this morning.
Of course, I just ate chocolate chip cookies, so that probably explains my fairly happy state of mind...
On a related topic, I am beginning to wonder if this baby thing was really a good idea after all, although it is seriously too late to do anything about it.

Thanks to everyone who made these boards possible. They look great and your hard work is appreciated! (Still getting used to all the bells and whistles!)
I saw this on Oprah when I was home sick awhile ago - it kinda looked like fun, honestly. At least, unlike the online personals, the "merchandise" is more honestly marketed. I assume it is much more expensive than other types of set-ups, but it you find compatible people (in either a new friend, business contact, or romantic interest) it could be money well spent. I think you should go for it and then give us a comprehensive review.
And BTW, your avatar is giving me the willies. I find it rather disturbing - what the hell is it?

Sparkles, is this a dating service or a way to meet new people?
The one I mentioned says it's a way to meet people but dating also seems to be part of the agenda. It's also part of my agenda but I find myself railing against the online dating scene so I'm looking for a more productive way to meet single people my age with similar interests and let the dating part take care of itself.Back to top

You might also consider joining a regular private club.
Over the past few years, I've met really great people my age at different monthly functions like winetastings or young member functions. The OM who generally looks down his nose at such things has made a lot of friends there he would not have otherwise met.
Plus, I have somewhere convenient to take clients for lunch or cocktails.

Thanks, I probably will be signing up and will definitely report back.
My avatar came from the official Sparklehorse web site. It was actually rather lazy of me because I just clicked there and saw a masked face and thought it was appropriate for this semi-masked forum. Sparklehorse's music is funny and creepy too (and I'm starting to wonder what kind of statement this makes about me!).Back to top

Back when I first moved to the Bay Area a few years ago, someone had a craigslist posting for a cooking club for people in their late twenties and early thirties who liked to cook but didn't have time, space, or felt sort of silly cooking a great meal for one. I responded to the posting, and about eight to ten of us would get together every month and have a nice dinner party. Some of us would meet up off line to go to movies or try out restaurants or whatever. And the group would expand or contract depending on what else was going on or if someone thought that a friend would be a good addition to the group. After the first two dinners, the group sort of self-selected to a nice core group of friends. It was a great way to meet new people, and the food was always delicious.Back to top

Well, I don't know about that. Guys shoes aren't that trendy. Gender adjusted, I'd say ferragamo is on the trendier side. Even though Ferragamo isn't as trendy as Bally or Prada, it had switched to more squarish toes to follow the trends (bruno magli did the same). Less trendy would be Santoni (or not Italian, but, Churches), which never really switched to squarish toes. Ferragamo's flashiness really shoes in the designs of its belt buckles though. The shapes are out there compared to other designers.
Don't know about Ferragamo's designs for men. I'm not crazy about him for women's shoes, which just look odd to me.Back to top

Not to be critical or anything (because I like the site very much), but what's with the logo? Is that a log between the old man and the kid? I'd buy a thong but that logo sitting on my pussy wouldn't really give me that sexy feeling.

Here I was, just thinking it was a water cooler or something, but I like all of the dirty-gutter-mind interpretations y'all are coming up with better. That logo is like a Rorshach (sp?) test. I'm clearly way too pure.

I see it as a guy hitting on a chick at the water cooler. You know, maybe using that smoooooooth "hey baby, this is your Last Clear Chance to have a cocktail with me" line. But what do I know.Back to top
