It boils down to if they renounced their Italian citizenship before your birth, I think. I can send you the email from the counselate that outlines the test. My nonna was still I-tie when my mom was born and that should hav ebeen enough, but Italy doesn't care about nonna, only nonno matters and I'm afraid mine naturalized as soon as he got here.
