I suppose it's not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but I don't think that the enforced uniformity of square footage is enough of a social good for most firms to make the inconvenience a worthwhile trade-off.

If it is that big an issue for you, just permanently check out one of the corner conference rooms, preferably one next to your office so you can just take down the wall.
