I took the logo, transferred it into an image editor, and blew it up. I can now safely tell you that it is a larger, clearly (ahem) excited man using a urinal while a younger, smaller person of indeterminate sex waits anxiously by his side.
I thought it was clearly a metaphor for law firm life, and thus most suitable for this board.
(Either that, or it was two people forcing oral sex on a short, stubby, armless guy. Not as pretty, but, still, a workable and apt metaphor.)Back to top

Am I the only person here who watched this (at least in part) last night? I thought there were some really lovely dresses, and I don't remember anything truly frightening (there are some moderately frightening dresses on the style.com website, but I don't remember seeing any of those on TV last night). Wait--Jeri Ryan's enormous and rather low-riding boobs were pretty frightening.
But I liked a lot of the colors--Nicole Kidman in a deep red satin, Megan Mulally in mulberry satin (and looking fab and not at all fat), Halle Berry in coral, Catherine Zeta-Jones in deep violet. Am I totally nuts for liking Uma Thurman's dress? It looked great in motion as she was walking out to announce the last award. And Mya's vintage coral chiffon number looked better on TV than in the pics. I liked the color of Diane Lane's dress, but not on her, and the side slit gave a bit too much of a circus-performer leotard-and-skirt-combo effect. Salma Hayek looked better in the red GG dress.

Uh, PLF -- does getting lectured by an imaginary person about spending too much time talking on-line with imaginary people qualify as "irony"?
No need to ask PLF. I'll answer.
It would be if I posted that I was having trouble finding a date or socializing with real people or whatever. I am not, therefore, it is not ironic.

I'm pretty sure we've got the edge of Diane Lane's nipple in this one.
And this is quite a shot of Julianne Moore's, um, dress.
Can someone please tell me WTF is going on with Moore's back? I think there's a reason you're not supposed to wear a dress like that in bright daylight.Back to top

Yes, Sag indeed. When my husband saw Diane Lane, he said, "I don't remember her boobs being so, uh, pendulous in that movie!"
(If you knew my husband, you might find it even funnier-than-average that he said the word "pendulous".)
And how about that guy who plays Ray's brother on Everybody Loves Raymond? His speech was hilarious.*
*For those who didn't see...he said "And Melissa Gilbert [president of SAG who appeared earlier with a very obvious boob job]; well, now I know where my dues are going...."

I just checked out your link. I didn't like Uma's dress - it seemed to be, um, missing something. Nicole Kidman looked fabulous - the color was very nice. Diane Lane's dress looked better on TV, but you're right that it would have looked better on someone else. Grace's dress (what's her name?) was nothing special, but Halle's looked great. I saw her on TV and the color looked much more orange than coral. In fact - I noticed quite a few went for the orangey tones which is interesting since it is a pretty unpopular color. I think Julianne Moore's would have looked better with a tan - and as noted, out of bright sunlight. Rachel Griffiths dress was underwhelming in an 80's sort of way. Kristin Davis' dress was nice and although I liked the color of Megan Mulally's dress (and yes, she looks great) I didn't like the neckline very much.

Just looking at pictures, Julianne Moore's dress looks like some kind of weird tufted cotton or wool (reminiscent of the 60s or 70s), not sequins.Back to top

On the logo, seeing it blown up it's a little easier to see that there (probably) aren't any erections involved -- but the person on the right seems to have hydroencephalitis (I think that's the thing that produces a misshapen skull), or maybe it's an alien.Back to top

It was sparkly though as I recall. I think maybe it was sparkly stuff woven onto the fabric. She did look good overall - the picture Atticus posted was a particularly bad one. Next time, maybe a little spray on tan.....

I'm sure if I saw Julianne Moore moving, I would be able to see the sparkles. It's the non-movement combined with the light color that makes the fact that it's sequins non-obvious.Back to top

Why does Debra Messing insist on wearing dresses that emphasize her nonexistent chest?
That dress was really bad on her. Just like the one she wore at the GGs.Back to top

Reminds me of the year Gwyneth P. was nominated for whatever it was and wore that pink Valentino (?) dress. The dress was gorgeous but didn't belong on her. There were bony chest issues. Not pretty.Back to top

bad. bad bad bad.
(but the 6 ft. under character is interesting, so she's apparently a decent actor.)

I saw a picture of her on style.com -- and I swore it was Jamie Lee Curtis.
She certainly looks quite mannish.

I'm in Boston and female.
I've tried the online dating scene, and it's just NOT for me at all. A friend of mine tried it in Boston (match.com) and had some luck meeting guys. I haven't tried one of these kinds of things, but how bad can it be? If it's not really expensive, in the worst case scenario you just have one of those uncomfortable lunches where you wish you were back in the office. At best, you might make a few friends. Trying it once couldn't hurt too much.
What sort of interests would you say you have? Would you want to try the MFA, the Boston Ballet, or the Boston Symphony groups for the younger crowd? There are also a lot of running, cycling and sailing clubs in town. Or there is the Museum of Science (where it's fun to find out).

Brad Garrett is very funny. I liked it when he said (in reference to James Gandolfini suing for Dec. Relief that he can get out of his contract) --
"This is a great week. Tomorrow I'm auditioning for the lead role on the Sopranos"

I only saw the very end of Married by America last night (missed all the proposals), but the previews for next week definitely had me intrigued. I'll tune in and see what train wreck awaits these people. Oh, and the vote one couple off each week format was a surprise to me -- so we only get to arrange one marriage?!
The most perplexing question for the night was why no RR/RW Challenge last night? I got home just in time for it and it wasn't on...
Watched Meet My Kids. Was cheering for the dumb boxer guy who attached a bottle opener to his dog's collar so that all he ever had to do to open a beer was to call the dog over. Classic.

Yup. Ms. Gattigap is attempting to get me hooked on that show. It's quite good.
Of course, later in the episode, when the wife is sniffing clothes and saying, "Did you use Tide?" the Ms. saw me smiling and started throwing various objects at me. I left before she could reach anything sharp.

If you're referring to me, that is hilarious. The only thing I did with regards to getting this site running was im Leagl and M-R incessantly whining about how my avatar wouldn't work. If I'd actually tried to help, we'd be lucky to have a board by summertime.
And as for Married by America, last week bored me but this week was better and I'm anticipating great things from next week. It's clear to me that Xavier (french dude) and his fiance already dislike each other and Matt and Cortes could not be more ill-suited to each other. Pleeeaaaase let this be a train wreck worth watching. And did anybody else notice the host last night was saying that there were three more couple that were going to be engaged and two had "already tied the knot". Um, since when did getting engaged constitute "tying the knot"? Have I been using the expression wrong my whole life? Doesn't Fox have editors?Back to top

The previews look like the train wreck we're all hoping for.
But, I was amazed that two of the couples look like they really like each other.

Billie Jean is not my lover. She's just a girl who claims that I am the one. But the kid is not my son.
Ahem. Sorry about that. Carry on.
