As you have probably already figured out, Wikipedia cites to: Jerome T. Hagen. War in the Pacific: America at War, Volume I. Hawaii Pacific University, ISBN 978-0-9762669-0-7. Chapter, "The Lie of Marcus McDilda", 159–162. That, too, could be fictitious. How do we know? None of us were there.
