Ask and you shall receive. Kind of. Not really funk, but definitely funky, Boogaloo was a music that sprung up in Spanish Harlem in the 60s, influenced by latin music of the time, including heavy Cuban influence, and also funk and R&B. A great document of this music is found on Secret Stash, which is just a fantastic local record label. Their Boogaloo album is great, and turned me on to this music. I also just love the album cover.

One of the biggest Boogaloo hits is not on the above album. It is by Joe Cuba (who was Puerto Rican). It is, to say the least, infectious. Today's Daily Dose is "Bang Bang":
