It’s like trying to explain the concept of drowning to a whale. Sure, they understand that mammals can die from it, but the idea that the ocean that makes them such a success is responsible for the deaths of other mammals is crazy talk.
If you get a thoughtful whale, he might even agree that he could drown, too, but that would not be the norm, and therefore not really worth discussing.
