Yesterday, you claimed that men -- presumably all men, since you chose not to qualify it -- like their wives to stay at home because that's a "trophy" or status symbol. I don't remember the exact words you used and don't care to read that post again. But I don't remember reading anything on these boards that I ever found so personally insulting and offensive.
Why is it personally insulting if it doesn't apply to you? You cannot be serious [this is grammatically incorrect obviously, but I wanted to use the J.McEnroe catch-phrase] that unless someone says "well, in most cases... blah blah blah" she actually means that it applies 100% of the time. This isn't a legal brief, it's a discussion. To think that unless I put a qualifier in, it must mean I think that about every man is wilfully to misunderstand. If you want to do that, go right ahead, but I think it's ridiculous.

Is there anything you can say about "men" or "women" or "children" or [just about anything] that is going to apply 100% of the time? (Maybe biological things, like "all mammals give birth to live young" or something.)

You're not going to try to tell me that there aren't men who say, "No wife of mine is going to work..." as if it is some sort of slight to their manhood, are you?

Edited to correct unintentional and unsightly grammatical error.
