I didn't either. Here's what the
Post did: It skipped over the canard offered by Democrats regarding how health insurance for illegals would be funded.
We all know it's going to be minimally - I mean in the tiniest imaginable amounts - funded by actual illegal immigrants. It's going to be funded by the govt.
So while it might appear the
Post is lying, actually, the Post is calling out the candidates for bullshitting about what they know is not going to happen. Good on the
Post there. I usually hate the
Post, but here, it's Occam's Razor applied-with-a-beer-bottle-over-the-head hybrid approach worked nicely.
Anyway, as to the substance, this whole debate is dumb. Illegals aren't going to pay for care because most can't do so. So we should set aside a few billion to cover ER care for them. Anyone with an objection to that is a ghoul. We cannot turn people away from acute care. Putting aside that it's barred in most regards, no one wants to live in a country like that. It's vile.
BUT, no politician on the Right or Left can say what I just said because on the Left, putting aside a few billion for ER care for illegals is inadequate. On the Right, it's a "giveaway!" So we're doomed to see bullshitters raise their hands and bullshit about their plans on health care for illegals for the next year and a half.
If this were a cycle where Rs were running for the nomination against a D incumbent, you'd see exactly the same type of bullshit. Rs would get up there and say they'd make illegals pay money for health coverage they know illegals do not have. Or they'd talk about how they'd pass bills stopping illegals from getting access to ERs, which they know is unlawful.
The Post is the perfect sort of shitrag to cover this dumb shit.
