It goes without saying I hope you and your family are safe. I've a spouse who's exposed to possible infection, but not to the extent yours is. I'm really sorry you and she have to go through this.

Every year, my wife sees otherwise healthy, middle-aged people die from the flu. It isn't necessarily a genetic predisposition or underlying condition. Not everything is fated. There is also bad luck.
