I personally use a pseudonym for most of my tweeting, but I am definitely the exception rather than the rule. I don't get any sense that anyone is pulling their punches for fear of what other people are saying, but not sure what that says.
I love Twitter, but it's a weird place with its own weird dynamics,
including shaming. The shaming manifests as politically lefty when it's happening in those circles, but I don't think it's inherently lefty.

Both Fang and Shor said things that seem reasonably in retrospect but that drew a one-sided, unhappy Twitter mob. Fang does not seem to have suffered any ill effects, other than that it's unpleasant to be the target of a Twitter mob. Shor lost his job. I don't know who Shor is or anything about him, but my conclusion is that he had a bad boss or worked for a badly run organization.
