What's really remarkable about this particular bill was that in the 2019 session, the Rs in the Texas legislature were super-super cautious about abortion laws. The Georgia law that will probably formally undo Roe came out when our ledge was in session, but they were spooked by the 2018 election results. Ds gained seats, Beto came within 200K of Cruz. They waaaay eased off the gas.

They must have seen something in 2020 that changed their minds.
