I’m not sure if ELO is technically prog rock, but it is hard to deny the visceral power of the riff in this tune. And when I saw the video (which I don’t think I have ever seen before), it sealed the deal. It is perfect. If I were to try to make a video that encapsulated the 70s, including a neon hot dog pulsating to the hand clap section, this video would be it. You may think ELO is totes uncool … but try not to clap along, I dare you:

Fun fact: Jeff Lynne says that mystery word he says after “Don’t Bring Me Down” is “groos” — a made-up placeholder word that he ended up keeping in the final version of the song. Later, after so many fans interpreted the mystery word as actually being the name “Bruce,” he started singing “Bruce” instead of “groos” in concert. An ELO engineer has a different story, so we may never know the truth.

I couldn't figure out why this post bothered me so much. I just now finally realized why. It's your two-facedness. You start by complementing Mr. Lynne, "it is perfect." That was nice, and showed a good side of you, especially when you also dismiss people that think they are above his music.
Then, but a paragraph later, you imply that his word can't always be trusted?
It makes me wonder how much I should trust you when you compliment me or any of the other posters.
