I told her it just didn't smell right. Except, instead of "smell," I said, "feel." And this was many, many years ago when I used to have one-night stands. She asked why, and I don't remember what I said. I just remember that funk and asking if she needed cab money (because she was so classy she probably wouldn't take the train).
