Why is a ugly guy who goes after a hot woman shopping out of his league, when a dumb, uneducated woman who goes after a rich genius is not? Does "league" connotate physical appearance?
Just as there are hot women who won't date an ugly dude, there are smart, rich men who won't date a dumb, unemployed women, even if she is hot. And the ones that will date them are sometimes just trying to bang the dumb, unemployed women out, although they might get caught up in a little "accidental" pregnancy now and then.
