Jenkens & Gilchrist chairman to step down

William Durbin, re-elected less than two months ago as chairman of Dallas law firm Jenkens & Gilchrist, said Wednesday that he plans to step down. Tom Cantrill, a Jenkens lawyer for more than 30 years, is expected to replace him.
Mr. Durbin said, "I've rethought things and felt it was best for me and for the firm for there to be a change."

Jenkens, one of the city's largest law firms, has been in a controversy over tax shelters. The Internal Revenue Service is seeking Jenkens' clients' names, and some clients are suing the law firm.
I think it was well less than 2 months.
