Ahh, yes. Thank you, I had forgotten about the conflict with the convention that year after they postponed that week. Although I'm surprised the NFL didn't go back to the no off week after that. Plus, the games without the layoff seemed sharper and more competitive.

Maybe they also had some issue with NFLPA, too? If that's the case, that's too bad. I quite enjoyed having to endure only one week of hype instead of two.
