Music for the Masters

Atticus, after giving your replacement seduction album question some more thought, the CD changer should contain the following:
Dido, No Angel (Had to look up the title, but all American women 24-34 own this album.)
Sarah McLachlan, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy (all women 29-39 have this album.)

Jack, you are so very wrong.

I fall into your stated demo on both albums and I have neither. (Dido? Seriously?)

More importantly, the best seduction album ever is D'Angelo's VooDoo. Sade's Lover's Rock would have to make the top five.
e/o, I was being a little sarcastic (and a little manipulative) by including Dido and Sarah McLachlan in the list. I was being sarcastic about all women having those albums (but a lot of women own them). Owning Dido would be a little manipulative because it's not a great album, and you'd only have it around for the attempt. You'd have it because she would have it.

e/o, quite frankly your taste in music is too broad and nuanced to be a guide for most women. I like the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. I've seen them in concert. I'd never put them on in a "come up to my place" situation. I'd probably want something that they've heard on the radio station with the 18-35 year old female demographic. Now if you've brought e/o up to your place, that's not going to cut it. Then you have to be Nick Hornby/Jon Cusack and come up with something surprising and wonderful and perfect.

We might be talking about two slightly different categories of albums. There's the before and the during. Sade falls into the latter category. Same as Al Green or Barry White. I was thinking of albums for a man to play during dinner/drinks/conversation. Sade at that stage would be overplaying your hand. That list is a whole 'nother thing.

And Atticus, to compare Better Off Dead with Are You Being Served? should be a felony offense.
