No one said he would win. They may have overstated or given a misimpression of his likely results -- but the bottom-line is Edwards did not have enough time to really build on his Iowa results in NH. He had done relatively little in the State before Iowa (why would he think he could compete with Dean or Kerry in a New England state that borders their home states?). Onw eek gap wasn't enough. Even this week -- he focused part of his attention on South Carolina, because the South is still the key to his strategy.
Even so -- IIRC Edwards was polling in the mid-to high single digits in NH before Iowa. Thus, even these early results reflect a 50% bump in one week.
I wonder when Lieberman will withdraw. So much for Joementum. An almost complete lack of charisma does ultimately trump substance in Presidential politics. (That and he is probably just too conservative for the primary crowd).
